AI for business writing is the practice of using generative AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot or ChatGPT to plan and draft workplace documents, then applying human judgement to edit them for accuracy, clarity, tone and brevity. This training covers effective prompting, critical review of AI output, company-policy-aligned confidentiality, disclosure and building a consistent personal voice.

Why editing has become the real writing skill
In 2026, the blank page is rarely the problem. The problem is the confident, polished AI draft with a wrong figure in paragraph two, a tone that sounds nothing like you and a client name that should never have been pasted into a public tool.
AI for business writing is now an everyday skill, and critical judgement of AI output is what separates useful drafts from risky ones. Organisations that roll out Copilot without writing and review habits often get more text, not better communication.
Microsoft Copilot learning content consumption rose 3,400% year on year across business use cases.
52% of knowledge workers say they need better education and training on generative AI tools.
What participants will be able to do
Prompts that brief well
Give AI tools the audience, purpose, key facts and format needed for a useful first draft.
Fact-check by habit
Verify every figure, name, date and claim in an AI draft against the source before sending.
Your voice, not the bot's
Remove generic phrasing, over-formality and filler so writing sounds specific and human.
Tone calibrated
Adjust AI drafts for seniority, culture and sensitivity, especially in difficult or client-facing messages.
Confidentiality first
Follow your organisation's AI policy on what data can and cannot go into which tools.
Faster, not longer
Use AI to shorten and structure documents rather than to make them longer.

Sample training plan: 1-day hands-on design
This one-day, laptop-on workshop teaches people to write faster with AI without losing accuracy, tone or confidentiality. Participants bring three real writing tasks from their week and complete them during the day using the organisation's approved tools. They test what AI does well and badly, build prompts that brief properly, run a critical five-point edit, catch planted errors, judge when not to use AI and set their own workflow. The capstone is a race-and-review round against a checking panel.
Participants can brief, edit and verify AI-assisted business writing, and have completed three real tasks with it.

Recommended: 1 day in person (09:30–17:30) with laptops and your approved AI tools, or 3 × 2.5-hour live virtual sessions, plus a 30-day prompt library challenge. A sample design: every Bodhih program is customised after a short needs analysis.
How long is business writing with AI training?
The recommended design is one laptop-on day in person, from 09:30 to 17:30, using the organisation's approved AI tools. It also runs as three live virtual sessions of about 2.5 hours. A 30-day prompt library challenge follows so the habits stick.
What activities are included in business writing with AI training?
Participants spot AI-written paragraphs, test the tool on five task types, rewrite weak prompts, complete three real writing tasks from their week, fix a client update with 12 planted errors, debate when not to use AI and finish with a race-and-review round scored on accuracy.
How we deliver it
Hands-on with approved tools
Participants practise in the AI tools your organisation has approved, so skills transfer straight into daily work.
Spot-the-error drills
AI drafts seeded with realistic errors train participants to review critically rather than skim and send.
Policy built in
During ADDIE analysis we review your AI and data policies so guidance in the room matches your rules.
Work samples, anonymised
Real emails, reports and proposals are rewritten with AI assistance to show measurable improvement.
Tailored versions
For Microsoft 365 Copilot rollouts
Focused on writing in Word, Outlook and Teams with Copilot, paired with change and adoption support.
For client-facing teams
Emphasises proposals, client emails and sensitive messages where accuracy and tone carry commercial risk.
For managers and reviewers
Helps managers set standards and review AI-assisted work from their teams consistently.
How we measure impact
Using ADDIE's Evaluate stage, participants complete a writing task before and after the program: editing an AI draft that contains errors and tone problems. Scores cover accuracy, clarity, tone and confidentiality judgement. A business-writing assessment on AssessAll can be added as a baseline. Managers receive a short review checklist for AI-assisted documents, and a 30-60-90 day follow-up gathers examples and checks adoption of team standards.
Pair this program with AssessAll, Bodhih’s AI assessment platform, for pre- and post-program skill measurement.
Frequently asked questions
How can AI help with business writing?
AI for business writing helps you plan, produce a first draft, summarise long documents, suggest alternative wording and shorten text. It saves time on the mechanical parts of writing. However, the tools need clear prompts, and the output must be checked for accuracy, tone and confidentiality before it is shared with anyone.
Is it okay to use ChatGPT for work emails?
It depends on your organisation's policy and the tool. Many companies allow approved enterprise tools but restrict consumer versions for confidential data. Where use is allowed, AI can help draft routine emails, but you remain responsible for what is sent. The program aligns guidance with your internal AI policy.
How do you make AI writing sound human?
Give the tool context about your reader and purpose, then edit. Remove stock phrases, cut long introductions, add specific details only you know and read it aloud to check it sounds like you. Short sentences, concrete examples and a clear ask usually make AI drafts sound much more natural.
What should you not share with AI tools at work?
As a general rule, avoid entering confidential client information, personal data, unreleased financials, credentials and anything your policy classifies as restricted into tools that are not approved for it. Rules vary by organisation and tool, so the program uses your own AI and data policies as the reference point.
How do you check AI-generated content for errors?
Compare every figure, date, name and claim with its original source. Watch for confident statements with no source, invented references, outdated information and subtle changes in meaning. Then check tone and completeness. The program uses drafts seeded with realistic errors so participants build a reliable review habit.
Should we disclose when AI was used to write something?
Practice varies. Many organisations do not require disclosure for routine internal drafting but expect it for published content, research or client deliverables. Some clients also have their own requirements. The program helps teams understand your policy and agree sensible norms, rather than prescribing a single rule.
Do participants need prior AI experience?
No. The program starts with the basics of prompting and builds to critical editing and workflow design. Experienced users benefit from the editing and policy sections. Bodhih customises the level after an ADDIE-based analysis and can pair it with Microsoft Copilot or prompt engineering training.
