Bodhih uses the AssessAll English Assessment Suite, with AI-scored spoken, listening, writing and placement tests mapped to the CEFR scale, for hiring screens, role benchmarking and before-and-after measurement of English training.

Why English skills need measuring, not guessing
For customer service, sales, GCC and global client roles, English is a core job skill, yet it is often judged in a short, subjective interview. Different interviewers reach different conclusions about the same candidate.
A consistent English proficiency assessment gives every candidate and employee the same test and a common scale. It also shows L&D teams exactly which skills to train, and whether training worked.
India scored 484 in the EF English Proficiency Index 2025, just below the global average of 488, with wide variation between states.

How we measure impact
Impact is measured before and after. For hiring, we compare English scores with early job performance, customer feedback or quality scores at 30, 60 and 90 days to confirm that cut-offs predict success. For development, employees take a baseline English proficiency assessment on AssessAll, complete targeted training and retest after eight to twelve weeks, giving a clear before-and-after view by skill and CEFR level for each person and team.

Frequently asked questions
What is an English proficiency assessment?
An English proficiency assessment measures how well a person can use English in practical situations. It usually covers speaking, listening, reading and writing, and reports results on a scale such as CEFR. Employers use it to screen candidates, benchmark teams and measure the impact of English or communication training.
What is the CEFR scale?
The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, or CEFR, describes language ability in six levels from A1, a beginner, to C2, near-native mastery. It is widely used internationally, which makes it useful for setting role requirements. AssessAll's English Assessment Suite reports results mapped to CEFR levels.
How is spoken English scored by AI?
Candidates complete spoken tasks such as reading aloud, repeating sentences, building sentences, answering short questions, retelling a story and answering open questions. The AI scores the recordings against consistent criteria and the results are mapped to CEFR levels. AssessAll's spoken test is designed to be accent-fair, focusing on clear communication.
Is AI-scored English assessment fair and valid?
AI scoring applies the same criteria to every test-taker, which improves consistency compared with individual interviewers. However, no test is perfect. Fairness depends on job-relevant cut-offs, accent-fair scoring, clear instructions and good audio conditions. We recommend using results alongside interviews and reviewing cut-offs against real job performance.
How is test-taker data protected?
Test-takers should be told what is recorded, including voice samples, and how results will be used. We agree access rights, retention and deletion rules with you before testing begins. Reports are shared only with authorised people, and recordings are used for scoring and quality purposes as agreed with the client.
What English level is needed for customer service roles?
There is no single standard level. It depends on the customers, the channel and how complex the conversations are, so an international voice role may need a higher level than a domestic chat role. We help you set levels by analysing real job tasks and checking them against performance, rather than using a generic benchmark.
Can we use the assessment before and after English training?
Yes, and we recommend it. A baseline assessment shows each person's CEFR level and weak skills, which shapes the training design. A retest after eight to twelve weeks shows measurable progress. This works well with Bodhih's business English, language proficiency and voice and accent programs.
