Why shorter messages now win attention
A project lead in a Pune GCC may post in five channels before lunch, and each reader gives a message a few seconds. When the ask sits in paragraph three, it waits. AI tools have added to the pile, because a draft that took seconds to produce often takes minutes to read.
Brevity is not about sounding curt. Concise communication training gives people a repeatable way to decide what the listener needs, say it first and stop, so senior leaders, clients and colleagues act sooner and meetings end on time.
LinkedIn names executive and stakeholder communication and public speaking among fast-growing skills for 2026.
What participants will be able to do
Put the point first
Open any message or update with the conclusion or the ask, then add only the support the listener needs.
Deliver a 30-second update
Give a spoken status update in half a minute that covers progress, risk and the decision needed.
Write three-line messages
Turn rambling emails and chat posts into three lines a busy reader can act on from a phone screen.
Trim slides to the story
Cut a 20-slide deck to the few slides that carry the message, with headlines that state the takeaway.
Answer senior questions directly
Respond to a leader's question with yes, no or a number first, then the reason, without nervous padding.
Edit AI drafts down
Take a long AI-generated draft and cut it by half while keeping facts, tone and the ask intact.

Sample training plan: 1-day hands-on design
This one-day design is built on the messages participants actually send. They diagnose their own padding, practise putting the point first and give timed 30-second updates that are recorded and replayed. The afternoon turns long emails into three-line messages, a status report into one page and a heavy deck into a few headline slides. Participants also cut an AI draft in half without losing meaning. The capstone is a lift ride with a CXO who asks one direct question.
Participants can put the point first in speech and writing and cut messages, slides and AI drafts to what the listener needs.

How long is concise communication training?
The recommended design is one day in person or two live virtual sessions of three and a half hours, followed by a 30-day brevity challenge with a peer partner and manager check-ins.
What activities are included in concise communication training?
Participants mark up their own emails for padding, rewrite messages point first, record and replay 30-second updates, cut a report to one page, rewrite deck titles as headlines, halve an AI draft and answer a CXO's question in a lift-ride simulation.
How we deliver it
Real messages only
Participants bring emails, decks and updates they actually sent, and rewrite them during the day.
Stopwatch drills
Spoken updates are timed, recorded on phones and replayed, so people hear the padding for themselves.
Before and after word counts
Every written exercise ends with a word count and a reader test: could someone act on it in ten seconds?
30-day brevity challenge
After the workshop, participants trim one message a day and share a weekly before-and-after with a peer.
Tailored versions
For GCC and IT services teams
Practice uses status reports, client escalations and updates to overseas stakeholders who join calls late in their day.
For senior leadership exposure
A half-day module for high-potential managers who now brief CXOs and boards, with live questioning from a facilitator in role.
For retail, BPM and operations networks
Shift handovers, store briefings and floor updates are cut to what the next shift or region needs, with voice-note and huddle drills for supervisors who rarely sit at a desk.
How we measure impact
Following the Evaluate stage of ADDIE, participants complete an AssessAll pre-assessment on written and spoken clarity and repeat it as a post-assessment after the 30-day challenge. Managers rate a sample of real updates before the program and again at 30, 60 and 90 days, looking at length, clarity of the ask and speed of response. The concise communication training is then reviewed with HR against any agreed indicators, such as shorter meetings.
Pair this program with AssessAll, Bodhih’s AI assessment platform, for pre- and post-program skill measurement.
Frequently asked questions
What is concise communication training?
Concise communication training is a workshop that helps professionals communicate in fewer words without losing meaning. It teaches people to state the point first, shape a message around the listener, use short formats such as the 30-second update and three-line email, and edit long drafts, including AI-generated ones. It covers speaking and writing together.
How can I communicate more concisely at work?
Decide the one thing your listener must know or do, and say that first. Add no more than two or three supporting points, then stop. Cut backstory, hedges such as 'just' and 'I think', and repeated context. Practising with a timer for spoken updates and a word count for emails builds the habit quickly.
How do you give a short update to your boss?
Use four parts in about 30 seconds: where things stand, the biggest risk, the next step and any help you need. Lead with whatever your boss cares about most, usually the decision or the risk. Keep the detail ready but unspoken until they ask for it. The workshop drills this with timed rounds.
Why do my emails get ignored?
Usually because the ask is hidden. Readers scan the subject line and the first two lines, often on a phone. If those lines hold background rather than the request, the email gets parked. Put the ask and the deadline in the subject or the opening sentence, and keep the body to what supports it.
How do I stop rambling in meetings?
Prepare your first sentence before you speak and make it the conclusion. When you notice yourself adding context, pause and ask whether the group needs it. Ending with a clear question or next step stops the drift. In the program, participants record and replay their updates, which makes the habit easy to see and change.
How long is a concise communication workshop?
The recommended design is one day in person or two live virtual sessions of three and a half hours, followed by a 30-day practice challenge. Shorter versions work as a half-day module inside a larger communication or leadership program. Bodhih customises the exercises to the messages your teams actually send.
Is concise communication the same as business writing training?
No. Business writing training covers structure, grammar and style across many document types. Concise communication training focuses on one skill, brevity, across every channel: spoken updates, meetings, email, chat, slides and AI drafts. Many organisations run it before or alongside a writing course so that shorter habits carry into every format.
