Why long reports need a rethink in 2026
AI can now produce a 30-page draft in minutes, so the bottleneck has moved. The hard part is deciding what the reader needs, cutting what they do not, and checking that every claim holds up. Teams that skip this step send out polished reports that nobody finishes.
Meanwhile, senior leaders, clients and global headquarters in GCC set-ups expect shorter turnarounds and sharper recommendations. Report writing training gives your people a shared structure and a review routine, so reports stop bouncing between author and reviewer for a fourth round.
WEF finds seven in ten companies consider analytical thinking an essential core skill in 2025.

What participants will be able to do
Plan before drafting
Define the reader, the decision the report supports and the three questions it must answer before writing a single paragraph.
Structure for scanning
Organise findings, analysis and recommendations so a busy reader can grasp the whole report from its headings and opening page.
Make evidence visible
Choose and label tables and charts so each one proves a single point stated in its title.
Write plain, precise sentences
Replace jargon, hedging and passive chains with short, active sentences that still keep technical accuracy.
Edit AI drafts responsibly
Use AI to speed up drafting while checking facts, numbers, tone and confidentiality before anything is sent.
Review with a checklist
Apply a team review checklist that cuts rework cycles between authors and reviewers.

How we deliver it
Your reports, not textbook samples
Participants bring a recent or in-progress report, and every module is applied to it, so the workshop produces better reports as well as better writers.
Rewrite clinics
Short input is followed by timed rewrite rounds and side-by-side comparisons, so people see the difference a structure or a sharper title makes.
Reviewer and author together
Where possible, team leads join for the review module, so authors and sign-off reviewers agree on one standard instead of personal preferences.
Designed with ADDIE
We analyse a sample of your current reports before the workshop and design exercises around the report types and pain points we find.
Tailored versions
For audit and risk teams
Focuses on observation writing, root-cause wording, management responses and neutral tone for findings that may reach senior leadership.
For engineering and site teams
Covers inspection, test, incident and feasibility reports, with attention to technical accuracy, photographs, drawings and precise, unambiguous wording.
One-day report sprint
A condensed format on structure, charts and review, followed by two virtual clinics where participants bring live reports for feedback.
How we measure impact
Before the workshop, we score a sample of each participant's reports against a clarity and structure rubric, and participants take a pre-assessment of written communication on AssessAll, Bodhih's AI assessment platform. After the workshop, a 30-60-90 day follow-up scores new reports against the same rubric and repeats the assessment as a post-assessment. We also track review cycles per report and reviewer feedback, then share findings with your L&D team under ADDIE's Evaluate stage.
Pair this program with AssessAll, Bodhih’s AI assessment platform, for pre- and post-program skill measurement.
Frequently asked questions
What is report writing training?
Report writing training is a workshop that teaches professionals to plan, structure and edit reports so readers can quickly find the findings and act on the recommendations. It covers reader analysis, logical structure, plain English, tables and charts, recommendations and review. Our version is built around the participants' real reports, so the practice transfers straight back to work.
How do you structure a business report?
Start with a short summary that gives the answer and the key recommendations. Then set out the purpose and scope, the findings grouped logically, the analysis behind them and the recommendations with owners and deadlines. Detail such as methods and raw data goes into appendices. Participants storyboard this structure on one sheet before drafting.
What makes a report easy to read?
An easy report puts the conclusion first, uses headings that carry a message, keeps paragraphs and sentences short, and shows evidence in tables or charts that make one point each. It also cuts anything the reader does not need. Our training gives participants a checklist covering each of these, applied to their own documents.
How do you write recommendations in a report?
Link each recommendation directly to a finding, then state the action, the owner, the deadline and the expected benefit in plain words. Prioritise them so the reader knows what matters most. Avoid vague verbs such as 'consider' or 'look into'. The recommendations module includes practice rewriting weak recommendations from participants' own reports.
How long should a management report be?
As short as the decision allows. Many management reports work well with a one-page summary, five to ten pages of body and the detail in appendices. Length depends on the reader and the stakes, so the training teaches people to scope content deliberately rather than aim for a page count.
Can AI write a business report for us?
AI tools can help with outlines, first drafts and summaries, but they can also invent numbers, misread data or leak confidential detail if used carelessly. The author stays responsible for every claim. Our AI module shows teams how to use approved tools for speed while verifying facts, tone and confidentiality before a report goes out.
How is this different from business writing training?
Business writing training usually covers everyday emails, messages and short documents. Report writing training goes deeper into long-form documents: scoping, structuring findings and analysis, presenting evidence, writing recommendations and managing review. The two complement each other, and many organisations run business writing first for a wide audience and report writing for analysts and specialists.
Do you run report writing training online and outside India?
Yes. The live virtual version runs as four three-hour sessions with breakout rewrite clinics. In person, Bodhih's master trainers travel from Bengaluru to run the workshop across India, the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand, and Africa, with examples adapted to local reporting practices.
