Why students need practice, not just advice, before placement week

Picture a final-year student in Coimbatore with good grades who freezes in her first group discussion, then answers 'tell me about yourself' by reciting her CV. Nothing was wrong with her ability. She had simply never practised the rounds that decide the offer.

Recruiters now add online tests, recorded video answers and AI-screened first rounds before a student ever meets a person. Students who have rehearsed each round, and who can show evidence of what they did, walk into placement week calmer and better prepared.

Recommended: 2-day bootcamp on campus (09:30–17:00), or 5 × 3-hour live virtual sessions, plus mock rounds through placement season. A sample design: every Bodhih program is customised after a short needs analysis.

How long is campus placement training?

The recommended design is a two-day bootcamp on campus, or five three-hour live virtual sessions over two weeks, followed by mock rounds run with the placement cell through placement season.

What activities are included in campus placement training?

Students sit a timed aptitude section, rewrite their CV for a mock recruiter, take two observed group discussions, face mock personal, technical and panel interviews, record AI-screened answers, practise recruiter emails and calls and build a personal placement plan.

06

How we deliver it

Practice in every session

Students sit timed test sections, mock group discussions and interviews, so most of the bootcamp is doing rather than listening.

Observed rounds with feedback

Trained facilitators and faculty observers score each round with simple rubrics, and every student receives written feedback.

Built with the placement cell

The bootcamp follows your placement calendar and the employers who visit, with faculty briefed to continue practice afterwards.

Measured readiness

AssessAll readiness assessments before and after show each student and the placement cell where effort should go next.

07

Tailored versions

For engineering and technology colleges

Adds coding test strategy, explaining projects to technical panels and preparing for service-company and product-company drives.

For management and commerce programs

Weights group discussions, case questions, panel rounds and summer internship conversions more heavily.

For employer-sponsored cohorts

A version for companies and GCCs building talent pipelines with partner colleges, aligned to the roles they will hire for.

08

How we measure impact

Using ADDIE's Evaluate phase, students take AssessAll pre and post assessments: Ready for Placement Week, Group Discussion and Panel Round Readiness Assessment for Campus Placement, and Job Interview Readiness, then build the Graduate Employability Skills Assessment with a Portable Record. Placement officers review progress at 30, 60 and 90 days, and students who join employers hold a 30-day check-in with their first manager, closing the loop on the campus placement training.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What is campus placement training?

Campus placement training is a bootcamp that prepares final-year students for campus hiring rounds. It covers aptitude test strategy, CV writing, group discussions, personal and technical interviews, panel rounds, online and AI-screened interviews and professional communication with recruiters. Bodhih runs it with college placement cells so it matches the employers who visit.

How do I prepare for campus placements?

Start with a timed practice test to find weak areas, then fix your CV so every line shows evidence. Practise group discussions and interviews aloud, ideally with honest feedback, and prepare clear stories about your projects. Learn about each company before its drive. The bootcamp gives students structured practice in every round.

How can I do well in a group discussion?

Enter early with a clear point, listen and build on what others say, bring at least one fresh angle or fact and help the group reach a conclusion. Avoid interrupting or repeating. A short, fair summary at the end often stands out. Students practise two observed group discussions in the bootcamp and get written feedback.

What do recruiters look for in a fresher's CV?

Recruiters look for evidence: specific projects, internships, results and responsibilities written in short, clear lines. One clean page usually works better than two crowded ones. Generic claims such as 'hard-working team player' add little. In the CV module, students rewrite their own CVs and test them with a peer playing the recruiter.

How should students prepare for AI-screened interviews?

Treat a recorded or AI-screened round like a real interview. Check your camera, light and sound, look at the lens, keep answers structured and specific and speak at a natural pace. Do not read from a script. The bootcamp includes recorded practice so students can watch themselves and improve before the real round.

How is campus placement training different from campus-to-corporate training?

Campus placement training happens before students receive offers and focuses on getting hired. Campus-to-corporate training is for new joiners after they arrive at a company and focuses on settling into work. This bootcamp ends with a short session on the first 30 days, which links naturally to an employer's induction.

How long is the placement bootcamp and can it run online?

The recommended design is a two-day bootcamp on campus or five live virtual sessions of three hours each, followed by mock rounds through placement season. Master trainers travel from Bengaluru to colleges across India, and the live virtual version suits colleges in smaller cities or students on internships.
