01

Why virtual selling is now core selling

Buyers move freely between in-person meetings, video calls, email and self-service portals, and they expect a seller to be just as effective in each. Remote meetings are no longer a stop-gap but a standard part of the buying journey.

Yet many sellers still run video calls like a phone call with a slide deck. Virtual selling skills training closes that gap with specific techniques for presence, engagement and follow-through on screen.

B2B buyers use an average of ten interaction channels, and preferences split roughly into thirds: in person, remote and digital self-serve.

Sample training plan: 1.5-day hands-on design

This one-and-a-half-day design helps sellers command a video call from minute one and follow up so well that distance stops mattering. The room is set up as a video lab: laptops, ring lights, headsets and separate corners so every exercise happens on camera. Participants record and review their opening, run a meeting with a buying group whose cameras are off, lead discovery on a digital whiteboard, deliver a 15-minute demo and negotiate on video. The capstone is a recorded virtual buying-committee meeting.

Recommended: 1.5 days in person with video labs (day 1 09:30–17:30, day 2 09:30–13:00), or 4 × 2.5-hour live virtual sessions, plus a 90-day follow-up with recorded call reviews. A sample design: every Bodhih program is customised after a short needs analysis.

How long is virtual selling skills training?

The recommended design is four live virtual sessions of 2.5 hours each, or one and a half days in person with video labs, from 09:30 to 17:30 on day one and 09:30 to 13:00 on day two. A 90-day follow-up includes recorded call reviews with managers.

What activities are included in virtual selling skills training?

Everything happens on camera. Participants compare before-and-after recordings of their opening, handle a buying group with cameras off and late joiners, run discovery on a shared whiteboard, deliver a recorded 15-minute demo, record a personalised video message and lead a virtual buying-committee meeting on their own opportunity.

06

How we deliver it

Practised where it is used

When delivered live virtually, the training itself becomes the practice ground, with every participant presenting and selling on camera.

Record, review, repeat

Participants record short calls and demos, then review them against a simple checklist with facilitator and peer feedback.

Designed with ADDIE

We analyse your meeting platforms, buyer mix and call recordings where available, then design scenarios that match your sales process.

Manager coaching toolkit

Managers receive a virtual call scorecard so they can coach from recordings long after the program ends.

07

Tailored versions

For field teams moving to hybrid

Helps traditional field sellers decide which meetings to hold virtually and how to keep relationships strong between visits.

For global and cross-border selling

Adds time-zone etiquette, cultural nuances on camera and virtual engagement with buyers in the US, Europe and the Gulf.

Virtual demo intensive

A focused format for presales and product specialists on high-impact virtual demos and virtual workshops with buyers.

08

How we measure impact

The program follows ADDIE evaluation. A pre- and post-program assessment on AssessAll checks virtual meeting structure, engagement and follow-up practices, alongside scored recordings from the demo lab. Managers review one recorded customer call per participant within 30 days. At 60 and 90 days we review agreed indicators such as meeting-to-next-step conversion, number of stakeholders engaged per deal and follow-up response rates.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

How do you sell virtually?

Selling virtually means running the full sales process over video, phone and digital channels. Prepare a clear agenda, set up your camera and audio well, keep buyers involved with questions and visual tools, and follow up quickly with summaries or short videos. Virtual selling skills training turns each of these into repeatable habits.

How do you keep buyers engaged on a video call?

Keep slides minimal, ask questions early and often, and invite buyers to react using chat, polls or a shared whiteboard. Check in every few minutes, address people by name and keep the meeting to its promised length. Engagement drops fastest when the seller talks without pause.

What is hybrid selling?

Hybrid selling combines in-person meetings, video calls, phone, email and digital self-service in one buying journey. Sellers choose the right channel for each step, such as in person for relationship building and virtual for quick reviews. The program helps teams plan these touchpoints deliberately rather than by habit.

How do you build rapport over video?

Look into the camera when making key points, use a warm, natural tone and take a moment for genuine conversation at the start. Show real interest through questions and active listening, and follow up personally. Consistency and reliability between meetings build rapport just as much as the call itself.

Should sellers insist on cameras being on?

Sellers should keep their own camera on and invite, rather than insist, that buyers do the same. Many buyers join from busy environments. The program teaches ways to engage participants with cameras off, such as direct questions, chat prompts and short check-ins.

Is virtual selling different from virtual presentation skills?

Yes. Virtual presentation skills focus on delivering content well on screen. Virtual selling adds discovery, buyer engagement, demos, negotiation and follow-up across a whole sales cycle. Many teams pair this program with our virtual presentation skills training for presales or leadership roles.

Can the program use our own meeting platform?

Yes. We can deliver on the platform your team uses with customers, such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Google Meet, so participants practise with the same tools. Every program is customised to your sales process using the ADDIE model. Where your policy allows, participants can even practise with anonymised excerpts from real customer calls.

Is there an in-person version of virtual selling training?

Yes. We can deliver it in person with video labs, where participants record and review calls in the room. Our master trainers travel from Bengaluru across India, the Middle East and other regions, and many teams choose a blended mix of both.
