FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between ITIL and ITSM?

IT service management, or ITSM, is the overall discipline of planning, delivering and improving IT services. ITIL is a widely used framework of guidance for doing ITSM well. Organisations can practise ITSM without ITIL, but many use ITIL because it provides a common vocabulary and proven practices. The program covers both.

Is ITIL 4 still valid, and what is ITIL Version 5?

ITIL 4 introduced the service value system, guiding principles and practices that most organisations use today. PeopleCert has since introduced ITIL (Version 5), and ITIL 4 certifications remain recognised during the transition. Bodhih aligns the program to the version your team is preparing for and confirms current exam details before delivery.

How long does ITIL Foundation training take?

Bodhih's recommended program is three days of instructor-led training, or six shorter live virtual sessions. This covers the syllabus with time for workplace examples, discussion and mock questions. Teams that only need awareness, rather than exam preparation, can take a shorter one or two-day version customised to their processes.

Who should take ITIL Foundation certification?

ITIL Foundation suits anyone who works in or with IT services, including service desk agents, engineers, developers, team leads and managers. It is also useful for people in vendor management or business roles who deal with IT. There are no formal prerequisites, which makes it a common first certification in service management.

Does Bodhih conduct the ITIL exam?

No. Bodhih delivers the training and helps participants prepare for the ITIL Foundation exam, but the exam itself is administered through PeopleCert, the organisation responsible for ITIL certification. Participants book it through PeopleCert or an accredited provider. Bodhih can share guidance on the exam format and booking process.

Who is the IT service management or ITSM program for?

IT teams, engineers and technology professionals. Bodhih tailors the examples, case studies and depth to your industry, culture and team level.

How long is the IT service management or ITSM program?

The standard program runs 3 days. Bodhih can shorten or extend it to fit your goals and schedule.

Can IT service management or ITSM be delivered online?

Yes. IT service management or ITSM can run in person at your location, as live virtual sessions for distributed or hybrid teams, or as a blended journey that adds self-paced learning on Bodhih.org between sessions.

How is the impact of IT service management or ITSM measured?

Success measures for IT service management or ITSM are agreed with you before design, as part of the ADDIE model. Bodhih can add pre- and post-program assessments on AssessAll and manager check-ins to track behaviour change.
