Dealership Manager Training Program

A dealership runs on a hundred small moments a day: the morning huddle, the walk-in nobody greeted, the job card that slipped past promise time. Our dealership manager training helps general managers, sales managers and service managers lead those moments, coach on the floor and turn daily numbers into steady habits.

01

Why dealership managers need more than a target sheet

Buyers now walk in having compared variants on their phones, booked a test drive on chat and read every workshop review. The first ten minutes with a consultant carry more weight than ever, and a manager who only chases month-end bookings misses where deals are really won or lost.

Most dealership managers were promoted because they sold or serviced well, not because anyone taught them to run a huddle, coach a new consultant or keep a strong service advisor from joining the dealer across the road. Dealership manager training closes that gap with tools they can use at tomorrow's 9:30 huddle.

02

What participants will be able to do

01

Run a huddle that moves numbers

Use yesterday's enquiries, test drives, bookings, deliveries and job cards to set three clear priorities in 15 minutes.

02

Coach on the showroom floor

Observe a live walk-in or service reception, then hold a two-minute coaching conversation that changes the very next customer interaction.

03

Close the follow-up gap

Set a follow-up rhythm for walk-ins, website enquiries and lost test drives, and review it daily without blame.

04

Lift the delivery experience

Map the journey from greeting to delivery bay and fix the three handovers where customers most often feel dropped.

05

Raise workshop throughput

Read bay utilisation, promise-time adherence and repeat repairs with the works manager, and agree fixes advisors and technicians can own.

06

Keep strong people longer

Spot early signs that a consultant, advisor or technician is drifting, and hold the stay conversation before the resignation arrives.

03

Who should attend

  • General managers of passenger vehicle, two-wheeler, tractor and commercial vehicle dealerships
  • Sales managers and team leaders managing showroom consultants and field executives
  • Service managers, works managers and body shop heads running workshop teams
  • Branch heads of multi-location dealer groups across metros and tier-2 towns
  • Senior consultants and advisors being prepared for their first manager role
  • Dealer principals in India and the Gulf who want one management language across branches

Sample training plan: 2-day hands-on design

This two-day design puts dealership managers back on a simulated showroom floor. On day one they rebuild a morning huddle from a real dashboard, coach a consultant straight after a walk-in, hunt for leaking leads and rescue a delayed delivery. Day two moves into the workshop: a Saturday rush with nine promised vehicles, the advisor walk-around, a stay conversation with a technician holding a rival offer and a meeting with the OEM area manager. Each manager leaves with a 90-day dealership plan.

Recommended: 2 days in person (09:30–17:30 each day), or 5 × 3-hour live virtual sessions, plus a 90-day floor-coaching follow-up. A sample design: every Bodhih program is customised after a short needs analysis.

How long is dealership manager training?

The recommended design is two full days in person, followed by a 90-day period with huddle observations, peer calls and check-ins at days 30, 60 and 90. It also runs as five live virtual sessions of three hours each, with real branch huddles between sessions.

What activities are included in dealership manager training?

Managers diagnose a dealership dashboard, run and repeat a morning huddle, coach a consultant after a walk-in, trace leaking leads, recover a delayed delivery, play a Saturday workshop rush game, hold a stay conversation with a named team member and pitch to the OEM area manager.

06

How we deliver it

Dealership cases only

Every case, role-play and dashboard comes from automotive retail and is tuned to your brand, vehicle segment and branch network.

Floor-ready rehearsal

Managers practise huddles, coaching conversations and advisor walk-arounds several times, with peers playing consultants, buyers and technicians.

Sales and service in one room

Sales and service managers learn side by side, so handovers between showroom, delivery bay and workshop stop being someone else's problem.

Huddle observations

In blended cohorts, a facilitator observes one morning huddle per branch and gives each manager specific feedback.

07

Tailored versions

For sales-heavy showrooms

Extra time on consultant coaching, test-drive quality, exchange conversations and digital enquiry follow-up for passenger vehicle and two-wheeler dealers.

For service and workshop leaders

A version for service managers, works managers and body shop heads, centred on throughput, advisor conversations, parts coordination and fewer repeat repairs.

For multi-branch dealer groups

A blended 90-day journey across branches in India or the Gulf, with live virtual sessions, huddle observations and a closing review with the dealer principal.

08

How we measure impact

In dealership manager training, measurement sits in the Evaluate stage of ADDIE. Managers complete an AssessAll pre-assessment, including Sales Manager Effectiveness and Sales Coaching Judgement, before the program and the matching post-assessment afterwards. A 30-60-90 day follow-up then tracks huddle quality, coaching conversations logged, lead follow-up rates, delivery feedback and workshop promise-time adherence. Results are reviewed with the dealer principal and HR so the next quarter's priorities rest on evidence.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What is dealership manager training?

Dealership manager training builds the everyday leadership skills of people who run automotive showrooms and workshops. It covers daily huddles, reading sales and service numbers, coaching consultants and advisors, lead follow-up, the delivery experience, workshop throughput and team retention. Bodhih customises it to the brand, vehicle segment and size of each dealership.

What skills does a car dealership general manager need?

A dealership general manager needs to read the business daily, set clear priorities, coach people in the moment and connect sales, service, parts and accounts into one customer experience. They must also keep good people, handle escalations calmly and represent the dealership well with the OEM. The program practises each skill with dealership cases.

How do dealership sales managers improve lead follow-up?

Start by finding where leads leak: unlogged walk-ins, slow replies to website and chat enquiries, and test drives with no next step. Then hold a ten-minute daily review of open leads per consultant, with one clear next action for each. The program gives managers a review format and follow-up scripts consultants actually use.

Is the training suitable for two-wheeler and tractor dealerships?

Yes. The core management skills are the same, but the cases change. Two-wheeler dealerships handle high walk-in volumes and young first-time buyers, while tractor and commercial vehicle dealers often sell through field executives in rural markets with longer buying cycles. Bodhih adapts role-plays, dashboards and examples to each segment during design.

Does dealership manager training cover service managers?

Yes. A full module covers workshop throughput, bay utilisation, promise-time adherence, repeat repairs and the service advisor's conversation with customers. Sales and service managers attend together so they can fix handovers between showroom, delivery and workshop. A service-only version is also available for works managers and body shop heads.

How long is the dealership manager training program?

The recommended design is two days in person or five three-hour live virtual sessions, followed by a 90-day period of floor coaching and check-ins. Many dealer groups prefer midweek dates to avoid weekend footfall. The final schedule is customised after a short needs analysis with the dealer principal and HR.

Can you run dealership manager training in Pune, Delhi NCR or Dubai?

Yes. Bodhih is based in Bengaluru, and its master trainers travel to dealerships and dealer group offices across India, including Pune, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad and Chennai, and to the Middle East, including Dubai and Riyadh. Sessions can run at your dealership after showroom hours, at a nearby venue or live online.

How do you reduce attrition of sales consultants in a dealership?

Start in the first 90 days, when most consultants decide whether to stay. Give each new joiner a buddy, daily floor coaching and early wins with real buyers. Hold stay conversations with strong performers, not only exit interviews. Fair lead allocation and a visible path to team leader matter as much as incentives.
