01

Why the demo now decides more deals

Buyers in SaaS and B2B tech arrive having watched recorded walkthroughs, read comparison threads and asked an AI assistant for a shortlist. By the time they sit through a live session, they want proof that the product solves their problem, not a feature parade they have already seen.

The live demo has become the moment where a deal speeds up or quietly stalls. Sales demo training turns it from a habit of clicking through screens into a planned, rehearsed conversation that answers the questions the buying group actually has.

What participants will be able to do

01

Earn the right to demo

Run focused discovery first, and decline or reshape a demo request when the buyer's problem is still unclear.

02

Build a three-outcome story

Structure each demo around three business outcomes the buyer named, showing only the screens that prove them.

03

Tailor to the room

Adjust depth, pace and proof points for CXOs, technical evaluators and day-to-day users in the same session.

04

Handle live questions

Answer tough questions, gaps and comparisons calmly, without derailing the story or overpromising the roadmap.

05

Demo well on video

Prepare clean environments, manage screen sharing and keep remote buyers engaged with checks every few minutes.

06

Close with commitment

End every demo with a specific next step, owner and date agreed by the buyer, not a vague promise to reconnect.

03

Who should attend

  • Account executives and enterprise sellers in SaaS and B2B technology
  • Presales, solution consultants and sales engineers who own the demo
  • IT services and product engineering teams pitching platforms and accelerators
  • Customer success managers who run expansion and adoption demos
  • Founders and early sales hires at Indian start-ups selling globally

Sample training plan: 1.5-day hands-on design

This one-and-a-half-day design is built on participants' own product and live deals. Sellers first watch a feature tour lose a buyer, then run a pre-demo discovery call, cut their standard demo down to three outcome proofs and rehearse it on camera. They face a buying panel firing rapid questions, a demo that breaks mid-session and a ten-minute CFO slot. The capstone is a recorded demo to a mixed panel, ending with a committed next step and a 60-day plan.

Recommended: 1.5 days in person (day 1 09:30–17:30, day 2 09:30–13:00), or 4 × 3-hour live virtual sessions, plus a 60-day recorded demo review. A sample design: every Bodhih program is customised after a short needs analysis.

How long is sales demo training?

The recommended design is one and a half days in person, a full day and a morning, followed by a 60-day period with two recorded demos reviewed by a facilitator. It also runs as four live virtual sessions of three hours each, entirely on video calls.

What activities are included in sales demo training?

Participants run a pre-demo discovery call, rebuild their own demo around three buyer outcomes, rehearse openings on camera, give a ten-minute CFO version, face a rapid-question buying panel, recover from a broken demo on video and deliver a recorded capstone to a mixed panel.

06

How we deliver it

Your product, your deals

Participants demo their own product against live opportunities, so every rehearsal improves a real upcoming meeting.

Recorded practice

Each participant records at least two demos and reviews the playback with a peer and a facilitator against a shared scorecard.

Buyer panels

Facilitators and peers play CFOs, IT heads and end users with role cards, interrupting and objecting as real buyers do.

Seller and presales together

Account executives and presales consultants train as pairs to agree roles, hand-offs and who owns which part of the story.

07

Tailored versions

For SaaS sellers

Short-cycle demos for mid-market buyers, trial-led motions and expansion demos to existing customers, with tight time limits.

For IT services and GCC presales

Platform and accelerator demos for global clients, with time-zone constraints, larger buying groups and proof-of-concept planning.

For new sales hires

A shorter onboarding version that builds one standard demo story and a certification round before new hires run solo demos.

08

How we measure impact

Sales demo training follows ADDIE, and its Evaluate stage starts before day one. Participants complete an AssessAll pre-assessment, including Presales & Solution Consulting and Value Articulation, plus a scored recorded demo before the program. The post-assessment repeats both after 60 days. A 30-60-90 day follow-up then reviews demo-to-next-step conversion, recorded demo scores and pipeline movement on the opportunities used in class, shared with sales leadership.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What is sales demo training?

Sales demo training teaches account executives, presales consultants and sales engineers to run product demonstrations that move deals forward. It covers discovery before the demo, building a story around business outcomes, tailoring for different buyers, handling live questions, remote demo craft and agreeing next steps. Bodhih builds the practice around each team's own product and live deals.

How do you give a good sales demo?

Start with discovery so you know the buyer's problem and what success looks like. Open the demo by restating their situation, then show only the screens that prove two or three outcomes they care about. Check in often, handle questions calmly and agree a specific next step before the session ends.

What should happen before a product demo?

Before a demo, the seller should confirm the business problem, who will attend, what each attendee cares about and how the decision will be made. A short discovery call or questionnaire usually does this. The team then writes a one-page demo plan and prepares a clean environment with realistic data.

How long should a SaaS demo be?

Most first demos land well at 30 to 45 minutes, leaving time for questions and next steps. Executive demos should be shorter, often ten to fifteen minutes. Technical deep dives can run longer if evaluators ask for them. The aim is to prove outcomes, not to fill the slot with features.

How do you handle tough questions during a live demo?

Clarify the question, answer it briefly and confirm it was answered before returning to the story. If the product cannot do something, say so honestly and explain any workaround. Avoid attacking competitors. Participants drill this repeatedly with a buying panel firing rapid questions during the program.

How is sales demo training different from presales or presentation training?

Presales training covers the whole solution consultant role, including requirements, proposals and proofs of concept. Sales presentation training focuses on slide-based pitches. Sales demo training concentrates on the live product demonstration itself: the story, the screens, the questions and the next step. Many teams combine it with the other two.

Can sales demo training be run online for distributed teams?

Yes. The live virtual version runs as four three-hour sessions, which suits sellers spread across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune or Singapore. Because most demos now happen on video calls, the virtual format lets participants practise in the same conditions they sell in, with recorded demos reviewed between sessions.

Do participants practise on their own product?

Yes. Participants bring their own demo environment and one or two live opportunities. Every exercise, from the discovery call to the recorded capstone demo, uses their product and real buyer situations. Facilitators do not need product expertise to coach, because the focus is on story, clarity and buyer engagement.
