## Sample training plan: 5-day hands-on design

This five-day lab takes BI and ETL developers from raw warehouse tables to a governed, fast MicroStrategy dashboard. Each participant builds one project across the week on a retail sales warehouse: they design the star schema, create attributes, facts and hierarchies, build reusable metrics, filters and prompts, design grid reports and an interactive dashboard, apply security filters and tune with cubes and caching. The capstone asks them to deliver a regional performance dashboard from a business brief and defend their design choices in a review.

### How long is MicroStrategy for developers training?

The recommended program is five days of instructor-led labs, 09:30 to 17:30, or ten live virtual sessions of about three and a half hours. A shorter three-day version suits analysts who mainly build reports and dashboards rather than schemas.

### What activities are included in MicroStrategy for developers training?

Participants draw a star schema, build attributes, facts and hierarchies, fix a broken schema, create level and transformation metrics, investigate reports that disagree with finance, design and user-test a dashboard, tune a slow report and deliver a governed dashboard in the capstone.

## When to choose this

✓**New developers are joining a MicroStrategy or Strategy One project**✓**Reports are slow or inconsistent and the schema needs a rethink**✓**Your team is migrating reporting to MicroStrategy**✓**Analysts need to move from consuming reports to building them**

## Frequently asked questions

### Is MicroStrategy now called Strategy?

Yes. The company rebranded as Strategy in 2025, and its analytics platform is marketed as Strategy One, with newer AI and semantic layer products alongside it. Many organisations and job descriptions still use the name MicroStrategy. The core developer skills of schema design, metrics, reports and dashboards remain the same, and the program covers them.

### What are schema objects in MicroStrategy?

Schema objects map the data warehouse to business terms. They include attributes, such as customer or product, facts, such as sales amount, hierarchies and logical tables. They form the foundation that every report and metric depends on. A well-designed schema makes reports faster, easier to build and more consistent, so the program spends a full day on it.

### Do I need SQL knowledge for MicroStrategy development?

Yes, working SQL knowledge helps a great deal. MicroStrategy generates SQL from your schema and application objects, and developers need to read that SQL to check logic and tune performance. Participants should also understand basic database concepts. Bodhih can add a short SQL and dimensional modelling refresher for teams that need it.

### How long does MicroStrategy developer training take?

Bodhih's recommended program is five days of instructor-led training with labs. That covers architecture, schema design, application objects, reports and dashboards, security and performance. Teams with prior BI experience may need a shorter version focused on MicroStrategy-specific concepts, and the outline is customised after a needs analysis.

### Can MicroStrategy training use our own data model?

Labs normally use a training data warehouse, but Bodhih can design exercises around a data model similar to yours so the concepts transfer directly. Teams sometimes share anonymised table structures during the needs analysis for this purpose. Confidential data is not needed, and participants practise on a safe environment.
