## Why ethics has moved from policy file to daily leadership

AI now drafts decisions, screens candidates and prices products, raising new questions about fairness, transparency and [accountability](https://bodhih.com/accountability-at-work-training/). At the same time, regulators, investors and employees expect leaders to show integrity, not just sign a code of conduct once a year.

Most ethical failures start small: a target that feels impossible, a manager who looks away, a team that fears speaking up. Ethical [leadership training](https://bodhih.com/leadership-skills-training-in-india/) gives leaders the judgement and language to handle these moments, and to build cultures where people raise concerns early.

## Sample training plan: 1-day hands-on design

This one-day design spends most of its time on dilemmas where reasonable people disagree. Leaders reflect on their own defining ethical moment, apply a four-step decision framework to grey areas, redesign a target that is quietly pushing people towards shortcuts, respond in the first five minutes when a team member raises a concern, and debate AI in hiring and pricing. Cases are anchored in the client's own code of conduct and reporting channels, under agreed confidentiality ground rules.

75% hands-on practice · 6.8 contact hours · Cohort: 12–24 participants · In person · Live virtual

### Day 1: Judgement in the grey

Participants can reason through a dilemma, reset a harmful target, handle a speak-up moment and question AI-assisted decisions.

1. 09:30–10:00 · Where do you stand? (Energiser)
2. 10:00–10:45 · A moment that defined me (Reflection)
3. 11:00–11:30 · Four steps and three tests (Concept burst)
4. 11:30–13:00 · Dilemma rounds (Debate)
5. 13:45–14:30 · The target that bends people (Case clinic)
6. 14:30–15:30 · The first five minutes (Role-play)
7. 15:45–16:45 · AI dilemma lab (Simulation)
8. 16:45–17:30 · My integrity commitments (Action planning)

Recommended: 1 day in person (09:30–17:30), or 3 × 2.5-hour live virtual sessions; a half-day board and executive briefing is also available. A sample design: every Bodhih program is customised after a short needs analysis.

### How long is ethical leadership training?

The recommended design is one full day in person, 09:30 to 17:30. It also runs as three live virtual sessions of 2.5 hours. A half-day briefing is available for boards and executive committees, focused on governance and AI accountability.

### What activities are included in ethical leadership training?

Leaders debate pharma, lending and procurement dilemmas using a four-step decision framework, redesign a sales target that is creating mis-selling pressure, rehearse the first five minutes after a concern is raised and review three real-world AI uses in an ethics lab.

## How we deliver it

### Dilemmas, not lectures

Most time is spent debating realistic dilemmas where reasonable people disagree, building judgement rather than memorising rules.

### Anchored in your code

Cases and reporting routes reflect your code of conduct and governance policies, reviewed with your compliance team.

### Safe, candid discussion

Chatham House rules let leaders discuss real pressures openly without naming individuals.

### Clear boundaries

The program builds leadership judgement and does not replace legal or regulatory advice from qualified advisers.

## Tailored versions

### For BFSI and regulated sectors

Cases on mis-selling pressure, lending decisions, conflicts of interest and customer fairness, aligned with your internal policies.

### For Gulf government-linked entities

Focuses on governance, accountability, procurement integrity and public trust, with culturally relevant cases.

### Board and executive briefing

A half-day session on tone at the top, oversight of culture and ethical questions leaders should ask about AI.

## How we measure impact

Under the ADDIE Evaluate phase, participants complete a pre and post ethical judgement assessment on AssessAll using scenario-based questions. Where your organisation runs culture or speak-up surveys, we help select relevant items to compare before and after. At 30, 60 and 90 days, managers report conversations held on targets and ethics with their teams, and we review aggregate indicators with compliance and HR.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is ethical leadership?

Ethical leadership means making decisions and setting examples that reflect integrity, fairness and responsibility, even when it is costly or inconvenient. Ethical leaders explain their reasoning, invite challenge, set goals that do not reward shortcuts and respond well when people raise concerns. Their behaviour shapes what their teams believe is acceptable.

### How do leaders make ethical decisions under pressure?

Pause before acting, clarify the facts and the people affected, check relevant rules and values, and consider options beyond the obvious two. Simple tests help: would you be comfortable seeing this in the news, or explaining it to your family? Ethical leadership training lets leaders practise this on realistic dilemmas.

### How can managers build a speak up culture?

Managers build a speak-up culture by inviting concerns regularly, thanking people who raise them, acting visibly on what they hear and protecting reporters from retaliation. How a manager responds in the first few minutes of hearing a concern matters most. The program includes practice on exactly that moment.

### What are examples of ethical dilemmas at work?

Examples include pressure to book revenue early, accepting a generous gift from a vendor, overlooking a high performer's poor conduct, using customer data in new ways, or relying on an AI tool that may treat some groups unfairly. The program uses dilemmas like these, adapted to your sector.

### Is ethical leadership training the same as compliance training?

No. Compliance training explains rules and procedures that must be followed. Ethical leadership training builds judgement for situations where rules are unclear, conflict or are not enough, and focuses on the leader's influence on culture. Both are useful and work well together.

### Does the program provide legal or regulatory advice?

No. This is leadership training, not legal or regulatory advice. We align cases with your code of conduct and reporting channels and encourage participants to involve compliance or legal advisers when needed. Specific legal questions should always go to qualified professionals.

### Does the training cover AI ethics?

Yes. A dedicated module explores bias, transparency, privacy and human accountability when AI supports decisions in hiring, lending, pricing or customer service. It complements our [responsible AI](https://bodhih.com/responsible-ai-training/) and governance programs by focusing on the leader's judgement and questions rather than technical controls.

### Where is the program delivered?

Bodhih delivers ethical leadership training in person across India, the Middle East and other regions, with facilitators travelling from Bengaluru, or live virtually. Since 2008 we have worked with 2,000+ companies, and each program is designed using ADDIE and customised to the client's sector and governance context.
