## Why years one to four shape a career

Induction programs cover the first weeks, and manager programs arrive much later. The years in between are when people form habits of ownership, learning and visibility, often with little structured support from anyone.

This generation also learns alongside AI tools that can speed up work or hide gaps in understanding. Early career professional training gives young professionals a practical toolkit and a clear growth plan, so they stop waiting for someone else to shape their career.

> Only 15% of employees say their manager helped them build a career plan in the past six months.

> Of every 100 workers, 59 will need training by 2030, according to employers surveyed by the WEF.

## Sample training plan: 1.5-day hands-on design

This one-and-a-half-day design helps people one to four years into work move from doing tasks to owning outcomes. Participants turn a vague request into a clear brief, rehearse an expectations conversation with their manager and practise hearing tough feedback without arguing. They prioritise a week where everything is urgent and learn a new topic with AI, then prove they understand it. The half day covers visibility, networking and asking for a stretch assignment, ending with a 90-day growth sprint.

75% hands-on practice · 10 contact hours · Cohort: 15–25 participants · In person · Live virtual

### Day 1: Own it, align it, learn from it

Participants can own work end to end, align with their manager, use feedback and prioritise under pressure.

1. 09:30–10:00 · Done or finished? (Energiser)
2. 10:00–11:00 · Clarify the vague request (Skill drill)
3. 11:15–12:30 · The expectations conversation (Role-play)
4. 13:15–14:30 · Hearing it well (Real-play)
5. 14:30–15:30 · Everything is urgent (Business game)
6. 15:45–16:45 · Learn it with AI, prove it without (Hands-on lab)
7. 16:45–17:30 · What I will do on Monday (Reflection)

### Day 2 (half day): Visible, connected, stretching

Participants can make their work visible, build a network and ask for a first stretch assignment.

1. 09:30–10:15 · The three-line update (Skill drill)
2. 10:30–11:15 · Network map (Group challenge)
3. 11:15–12:15 · Ask for the stretch (Role-play)
4. 12:15–13:00 · My 90-day growth sprint (Action planning)

Recommended: 1.5 days in person (day 1 09:30–17:30, day 2 09:30–13:00), or 4 × 2.5-hour live virtual sessions, plus a 90-day growth sprint. A sample design: every Bodhih program is customised after a short needs analysis.

### How long is early career professional training?

The recommended design is one and a half days in person, a full day and a morning, followed by a 90-day growth sprint with peer circles. It also runs as four live virtual sessions of two and a half hours each.

### What activities are included in early career professional training?

Participants clarify a real vague request, rehearse an expectations conversation with their manager, practise receiving tough feedback, play a prioritisation game, learn a topic with AI and then explain it without the tool, write a three-line update and ask for a stretch assignment.

## How we deliver it

### Peer-heavy learning

Most activities happen in small peer groups, which suits early-career learners and builds networks across teams.

### Real work, real managers

Participants bring current tasks and hold one structured conversation with their manager during the program window.

### AI-aware practice

Exercises use AI tools openly, with checks that build judgement rather than dependence.

### Growth sprint

A 90-day sprint with a stretch goal, peer check-ins and a closing review keeps momentum after the workshop.

## Tailored versions

### For GCC and IT services early-career pools

Cases cover global stakeholders, sprint-based work and visibility across onsite and offshore teams.

### For operations and frontline graduates

A shorter version focused on ownership, prioritising and working with supervisors in plants, branches and operations centres.

### Manager companion session

A 90-minute briefing helps managers support early-career team members through feedback and career conversations.

## How we measure impact

Impact is tracked through the Evaluate stage of the ADDIE model. Participants complete the AssessAll pre-assessment Task Prioritisation & Planning, plus Taking It Well: What You Do When Somebody Tells You Something You Did Not Want to Hear, and repeat both as a post-assessment. Managers hold check-ins using a short conversation guide. A 30-60-90 day follow-up reviews growth sprint goals, feedback requests made and stretch assignments started.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is early career professional training?

Early career professional training is a development program for employees one to four years into work. It builds the habits that speed up early growth: owning work end to end, working well with a manager, using feedback, prioritising, learning fast with AI, making work visible, networking and asking for stretch assignments.

### How is it different from campus to corporate training?

[Campus to corporate](https://bodhih.com/campus-to-corporate-training/) training helps fresh graduates settle into their first weeks: workplace basics, etiquette and expectations. Early career professional training starts after that, once people know the job and need to grow in it. It focuses on ownership, visibility, feedback and career moves rather than induction topics.

### What skills do early career professionals need most?

The skills that matter most are ownership of outcomes, clear communication with their manager, using feedback well, prioritising under pressure and learning quickly. Increasingly, they also need judgement in using AI tools and the confidence to ask for stretch work. The program builds each through practice on participants' current work.

### How can young professionals work better with their manager?

Understand what your manager is measured on, agree how and when they want updates and raise problems early with a suggested fix. Ask what good looks like before starting important work. Participants prepare and hold a structured expectations conversation with their own manager as part of the program.

### How should early career employees use AI tools at work?

Use AI to learn faster and draft quicker, but check the output and make sure you understand the work yourself. Be open with your manager about how you use it and follow company rules on what can be shared. The program includes exercises where participants learn a new topic with AI, then test their understanding.

### How do early career professionals get a stretch assignment?

Do your current work reliably, make results visible and then ask specifically: name the type of work you want to try and why you are ready. Offer to take it alongside existing work for a fixed period. Participants identify one realistic stretch opportunity and plan the conversation to ask for it.

### Does early career professional training work for Gen Z employees?

Yes. The design reflects how many Gen Z professionals prefer to learn: peer-based, practical, fast-paced and linked to visible career progress. It avoids lectures and treats participants as capable professionals. Managers can join a companion session so the support continues after the program.

### Can it be delivered online to teams in different cities?

Yes. The [live virtual](https://bodhih.com/live-virtual-classes/) version runs as four sessions of two and a half hours, which suits cohorts across Bengaluru, Pune, Gurugram and overseas offices. For in-person cohorts, our master trainers travel from Bengaluru to your location in India or the Middle East.
