Critical thinking training that helps your people slow down at the right moments, question assumptions, test evidence and reach decisions they can defend. It is built around real problems from your organisation, and is just as useful for checking an AI-generated answer as for reviewing a business case.

## Why critical thinking matters more when answers are cheap

Teams now have more data, dashboards and AI-generated drafts than ever, yet the quality of decisions still depends on how well people question what they are given. A confident answer is not the same as a correct one, and critical thinking training builds the discipline to tell the difference.

In Indian organisations serving global clients, people are often expected to execute quickly rather than challenge the brief. This program builds the habit and the language to ask better questions respectfully, without slowing delivery.

> Around seven in ten employers surveyed consider analytical thinking a core skill for their workforce in 2025.

## What participants will be able to do

### Frame the real problem

Separate symptoms from root causes and write a clear, testable problem statement before jumping to solutions.

### Surface hidden assumptions

Identify the assumptions behind a plan, forecast or request and decide which ones need testing.

### Weigh evidence

Judge the quality, relevance and sufficiency of data, reports and AI outputs before relying on them.

### Recognise thinking traps

Spot anchoring, confirmation bias and sunk-cost thinking in yourself and in group discussions.

### Build a sound argument

Structure a recommendation using claim, evidence and reasoning so stakeholders can follow and challenge it.

### Decide under uncertainty

Use pre-mortems and decision matrices to make and document choices when information is incomplete.

## Who should attend

- Analysts, consultants and engineers who turn data into recommendations
- Team leads and first-line managers who approve work and make daily calls

## Sample training plan: 2-day hands-on design

This two-day design builds the discipline to question what teams are given, respectfully and without slowing delivery. Participants bring a problem from their own work, and the organisation nominates an open business problem for the capstone. They frame problems before solving them, break issues into clean parts, surface hidden assumptions, weigh evidence and AI output, spot thinking traps in groups, build answer-first recommendations and decide under uncertainty. The capstone is a real case clinic with peer challenge on the nominated problem.

78% hands-on practice · 13.5 contact hours · Cohort: 12–24 participants · In person · Live virtual

### Day 1: Frame, break down and test

Participants can frame a real problem clearly, break it into parts, find root causes and test assumptions and evidence.

1. 09:30–10:00 · The confident wrong answer (Energiser)
2. 10:00–10:45 · What good thinking looks like (Diagnostic)
3. 11:00–12:00 · Problem before solution (Skill drill)
4. 12:00–13:00 · Issue tree (Build sprint)
5. 13:45–14:45 · Root causes on a live case (Case clinic)

7. 15:45–16:45 · Evidence court (Hands-on lab)
8. 16:45–17:30 · What I would question now (Reflection)

### Day 2: Reason, recommend and decide

Participants can spot traps in group thinking, build a sound recommendation, decide under uncertainty and defend their reasoning under challenge.

1. 09:30–10:00 · Fallacy hunt (Energiser)
2. 10:00–11:00 · Traps in the room (Simulation)
3. 11:15–11:45 · Claim, evidence, reasoning (Concept burst)

7. 16:15–16:45 · Challenge without friction (Role-play)
8. 16:45–17:30 · My 90-day thinking plan (Action planning)

Recommended: 2 days in person (09:30–17:30), or 4 × 3-hour live virtual sessions, plus a 90-day follow-up applying a critical thinking checklist to real work. A sample design: every Bodhih program is customised after a short needs analysis.

### How long is critical thinking training?

The recommended design is two days in person, from 09:30 to 17:30, followed by a 90-day plan applying a critical thinking checklist to real work. It also runs as four live virtual sessions of three hours each over two weeks.

### What activities are included in critical thinking training?

Participants work on their own problem and a client-nominated case. They solve puzzles with tempting wrong answers, build an issue tree, run a fishbone and 5 Whys on a real problem, judge sources in an evidence court, catch thinking traps in a staged meeting and present a recommendation in a peer-challenged case clinic.

## How we deliver it

### Your problems, not textbook ones

In the Analyse phase of ADDIE we collect real decisions, reports and cases from your teams, anonymised where needed, and build the critical thinking training exercises around them.

### Think-aloud practice

Participants solve cases in small groups while the facilitator makes reasoning visible, so habits are corrected in the moment.

### Structured challenge

Red-team rounds and peer reviews give people a safe way to question ideas across levels of seniority.

### Job aids that travel

Every participant leaves with a one-page thinking checklist and templates for problem statements, issue trees and pre-mortems.

## Tailored versions

### For GCC and IT teams

Cases on requirement ambiguity, incident root-cause analysis and when to challenge a client or headquarters brief, with extra practice on reviewing AI-assisted code and documents.

### For managers and approvers

A sharper focus on evaluating proposals, asking probing questions in reviews and building a team culture where reasoned challenge is welcome.

### For graduate and early-career cohorts

A lighter, activity-rich format that builds foundational reasoning, structured writing and the confidence to ask questions in a new workplace.

## How we measure impact

We plan the Evaluate stage of ADDIE from the start, and participants can take a pre and post critical thinking assessment on AssessAll, Bodhih's AI assessment platform, covering analysis, inference and evaluation. Managers score a before-and-after work sample, such as a recommendation note, using a shared rubric. At 30, 60 and 90 days we run short check-ins on each application plan and collect examples of improved decisions, so you see behaviour change, not just attendance.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is critical thinking training?

Critical thinking training teaches people to analyse information, question assumptions, evaluate evidence and reason towards a well-supported conclusion. In a workplace program, this means applying frameworks such as issue trees, the ladder of inference and pre-mortems to real business problems. The aim is better everyday judgement: clearer problem statements, fewer avoidable errors and recommendations that stand up to scrutiny.

### Can critical thinking really be taught to adults?

Yes. Critical thinking is a set of habits and techniques, not a fixed trait, and adults improve when they learn named tools, practise them on familiar problems and get feedback on their reasoning. That is why Bodhih builds the program around your own cases and follows up for 90 days, so the new habits are used at work rather than forgotten after the workshop.

### How do you measure critical thinking skills in employees?

Measurement works best at two levels. An assessment, such as the pre and post critical thinking assessments available on AssessAll, captures changes in analysis and inference. Work samples, like a recommendation note scored with a rubric before and after the program, show whether the skills transfer to the job, and manager observations over 30 to 90 days complete the picture.

### How is this different from problem solving and decision making training?

Problem solving training focuses on structured steps to fix an issue. Critical thinking sits underneath it: examining the quality of information, the assumptions and the reasoning used at every step. The two work well together, and many clients pair this program with Bodhih's problem solving and decision making or [strategic thinking](https://bodhih.com/strategic-thinking-training/) programs for a fuller capability path.

### Does the program cover critical thinking with AI tools?

Yes. [Generative AI](https://bodhih.com/generative-ai-training/) makes it easy to produce confident, polished answers that may be incomplete or wrong, so the program includes practice on checking AI outputs for missing context, weak evidence, invented references and hidden assumptions, and on asking better follow-up questions. The focus is human judgement, so it complements rather than replaces tool-specific AI training.

### What is the recommended duration of critical thinking training?

We recommend two days in person or four [live virtual](https://bodhih.com/live-virtual-classes/) sessions of three hours each. Shorter awareness sessions are possible, but practice and feedback on real cases is where most of the learning happens. The final design, duration and case mix are customised after a short needs analysis with your HR or L&D team.

### Can the program be delivered for teams outside India?

Yes. Bodhih delivers in person across India, the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Far East Asia, Australia and New Zealand and Africa, with master trainers travelling from Bengaluru. We also run the program as live virtual sessions for distributed and global teams, with case examples adapted to the cultures and time zones involved.
